Survivors Manchester is currently looking for someone that has the passion and abilities to help the delivery of trauma-informed therapy in a prison setting.

For the past 11 years, Survivors Manchester has provided survivor-focused therapeutic and advocacy support to male victims/survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation. They have developed a three-tiered approach to services and underpin everything they do with a 'trauma and recovery' framework pioneered by Dr Judith Herman.

They have now been commissioned to deliver a trauma therapy service in 15 prisons across the north-west of England and are looking for motivated and skilled practitioners to work in a fascinating, vital and sometimes challenging environment.

You will be a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist who holds at least a Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy or equivalent and be registered with BACP or equivalent (preferably an accredited member). You will preferably have several years’ experience as a therapist and have had some managerial responsibility. You will lead peer-mentoring support to trauma-informed therapists, lead accurate clinical record keeping, support the Clinical lead to ensure staff are observing processes and protocols as well as hold your own therapeutic caseload. You will understand issues relating to trauma, be able to work as part of a team and feel confident working in a prison setting.

In return for your time, experience and commitment to the organisation, you will receive an annual salary of £29,000 – £33,000; 22 days annual leave (increasing annually by 1 day to max of 28 days) plus bank holidays; birthday leave; company sick pay; monthly clinical supervision; pension contribution; and a range of training opportunities.

If this is a role that you think you could achieve great things in, then Survivors Manchester want to hear from you.
