Final Recommendations For Future Electoral Arrangements For St Helens Borough Council

14 July 2021

ocal Government Boundary Commission for England have published their final recommendations for future electoral arrangements for St Helens Borough Council.

They are proposing that St Helens Borough Council should have 48 councillors. Those councillors should represent 13 three-councillor wards, four two-councillor wards and one one councillor ward, across the borough.

They are also proposing that the boundaries of most wards should change, and the number of wards to be increased from 16 to 18.

They have now completed their electoral review of St Helens and are extremely grateful to the people of St Helens who took the time and effort to send in their views, they considered every piece of evidence they received before finalising theirrecommendations.

As a result of their recommendations for new warding patterns, they are making changes to the parish electoral arrangements for Eccleston

The changes they have proposed must now be approved by Parliament.

A draft Order - the legal document which brings into force the recommendations - will now be laid before Parliament.

The draft Order will provide for new electoral arrangements for St Helens Borough Council to be implemented at the local elections in 2022.
