Vaccine Conversation Training

23 February 2022

Halton Public Health would like to invite you and any staff members who are interested to attend a FREE 1 day accredited course to train as ‘vaccine champions’. This course is provided by the Royal Society of Public Health (Level 2 Encouraging Vaccination Uptake) training and delivered by Halton Borough Council’s Public Health Team.

This training aims to help you develop the skills and knowledge to be able to have conversations around vaccinations in your different areas of work and with peers. The day will cover a brief introduction to vaccines, how to have conversations about the vaccine, understanding motivation and behaviours and knowing boundaries/when to refer. It’s aimed to give you the skills and confidence to have these conversations as well as the background knowledge. You don’t need to be a healthcare professional to attend – it’s not designed to be a clinical or medical approach. The skills gained are also highly transferable to other areas.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing they want to ensure that individuals are supported to make an informed decision about the vaccine and encourage uptake where possible, especially for vulnerable individuals. The vaccine remains our most powerful tool in keeping everyone safe, helping return to normal and preventing serious illness from COVID-19 but they understand that many people still have concerns and questions. This course is also a great opportunity for CPD, additional learning.

The session is 1 full day face-to-face training and is free to attend. There will be a workbook to complete and submit on the day which will be assessed and the team will support you through this. All sessions will be run securely with learner’s safety highest priority – there will be COVID mitigation procedures in place.
