Sheila Kay Fund

The Sheila Kay Fund aims to assist local people active in their community by providing guidance, support, mentoring and funding to people along their learning journey. In achieving our aim, The Sheila Kay Fund operates collaboratively, responsively and progressively. We believe that: -people are capable of using learning to empower themselves and others; - society is stronger when people work together; - everyone has a right to learn, and to be treated as equals We envision a society where everyone has the opportunity to learn, and to revitalise their communities. The Sheila Kay Fund will be a recognised leader in this movement. OUR TRACK RECORD We were established in 1974 by a group of people in memory of local social worker and activist Sheila Kay, who was tragically killed in a hit and run road accident. 40+ years on, with over £1million awarded in grant support and thousands of people helped, Sheila’s vision, of a world in which people are given the opportunities to create better lives for themselves and those around them, lives on in our work.
